Springwood to Parramatta via Windsor

Another Tuesday supplementry ride well worth doing. Actually two rides in one – a chance to experience a rural downhill descent through very pleasant countryside complete with bell birds and whip birds from Springwood and a 32 km flat ride on a dedicated cycle path from Windsor to Parramatta.
It consists of catching the train to Springwood, then riding from Springwood to Richmond, then to Windsor using a wide shoulder next to the Richmond air base and then from Windsor to Parramatta train station. The total riding distance is about 65 km.
As you can see from the ride profile below there is an intial descent and then not much pedalling to do for the whole ride, being basically flat.

Places for breaks

Winmalee has coffee and snacks, and the Ettamogah pub is well placed for a lunch break.

One option is to catch the 8.36 am train from Parramatta, arrive Springwood 9.30 am.
Arrive Windsor at 11.30am, a bit early for lunch which is better taken at around 1 pm at the Ettamogah Pub, just before the intersection with Old Windsor Road.
Arrive back at Parramatta around 2:30 to 3 pm, dependent on the length of the lunch stop.
